The general requirements for lubricants are the selection and use of lubricants:
- Have a suitable viscosity. If the viscosity is too low, a sufficiently thick oil film cannot be formed, which will cause abnormal wear and even burnt sticking. Viscosity is too high, viscous resistance, and will make the oil internal friction increased and produce high heat.
- It has good antioxidant stability. Because the gear meshing temperature is very high, if the oil's antioxidant stability is not good, subject to extrusion and agitation is prone to thermal oxidation and deterioration, generating oxidized colloidal precipitation, and loss of lubricating properties.
- It has good anti-oxidation and anti-rust property. The mixing of moisture and impurities as well as the deterioration and deterioration of the oil will cause the gear to rust. Therefore, when selecting lubricants, it is required to have strong rust prevention ability or contain rust prevention additives.
- Good anti-bubble property. Gear and lubricating oil for violent mixing and impact, air mixed into the oil is easy to generate bubbles. If the anti-foam is poor, not only will accelerate the oxidative deterioration of the oil, but also affect the lubricating effect of the oil.
